Shepherds and Nursemaids parade, Donostia-San Sebastian

The finale of the Shepherds and Nursemaids parade in Donosti has to be one of the odder Basque traditions.

Which is saying something.

At the end of the parade the nurses throw their 'babies' into the air and the shepherds whack them with their sticks as they return to earth.
